The Microsoft Office Suite applications make it very easy to open, save and close any application. The popular word processing program, Microsoft Word, makes it easy to create letters, memos, and save them for use in another time. The stumbling-block appears when the user needs to find and use that same file again. Where did that file go and how do I find it?
This lesson will focus on two methods that will quickly find recent files, the My Recent Documents link of Windows XP and the Recently Used File List found in Microsoft Office Word 2003.
My Recent Documents
Click the Start button on the Taskbar, which opens into the Start Menu. The link named My Recent Documents is on the second column of the Start menu. Move the mouse over the link which opens into another menu that will display up to 15 of the most recent documents opened on your computer. If a Microsoft Word 2003 document was recently opened, it will be shown in the list along with other Microsoft Office documents created by Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Recently Used File List
Open a new or existing Microsoft Word 2003 and click the File menu. At the bottom of the menu are up to 4 of the most recent files created only in Microsoft Word 2003.
So, put away the spyglass, Inspector Clouseau can stay in his office. You can find your own files all by yourself.
